A Flower, a Seed, some Soil and Sun

How can I tell you what you already know? Did you create yourself? Certainly not. Then you must owe your being to someone. But can someone create themself? Certainly not.

Then surely, something or someone must be the author of everything. And not just of you the creature, but also the birds and the fish, for surely they neither can create themselves. But what of the mountains and the seas. Are they alive? Can they see and breathe? Then surely they did not create creatures, or birds, or fish, or themselves. Then again, who was the author?

And if this author created you; then surely He has also created everything that you have! And if this be true, surely you would be indebted to this author: like the flower is indebted to the soil and the sun, for without the soil and the sun, surely it would not be, or sooner wilt and die.

But oh I ramble on. Be you not a believer in any of the above; be you not a believer in a super forever being author then where did you come from? A monkey or an ape? But from where did the come: the dirt, an ant, a rock. And so around and around you go. Because, something or someone must be the author of everything.

And so let us leap. You are indebted to the author for everything. You have nothing which was not given to you by the author. And so, yes, the author can take back everything too. Or, give you more as well.

So we are indebted. Does the author not like the creation? Then you would be not! Has the author given you more then you deserve, be it good fortune or bad. And what of bad fortune? Will you now shake your fist or will you be humble and ask for help. And if your fortune be good, will you hide away what you have? Or will you share what you have from the author of life?

But you hide it, and to what end? Yes, I’ll use it for more. But silly man from where does it come?

So now you see. Lets say an author is a God, the God, the beginning which has always been, never created, to nothing in debt. So you the creature, who did not create yourself has everything from somewhere, the author of life. Let’s say an author is God. So see your in debt, because the flower needs the soil, the seed and the sun.

Charisms pt 2: Wisdom

I confess, it has taken way to long to write part 2 (thumping my chest 3times.)
So, not to dilly dally any longer. I planned on the parts to be an exploration of the charisms. The first charism to come up on my list was Wisdom. Did St. Paul possess Wisdom? Was the charism of Wisdom knowing the mind of God!? Surely not. Do the Saint’s receive true and full Wisdom upon entering the Kingdom? St. Paul surely had Knowledge as a learned Jewish Pharisee; and then much Wisdom as is seen so often in the NT. Surely then , I will never have Wisdom. First, of course, I looked to prayer for an answer. Yes, and then I grew inpatient, and I fell down a rabbit hole. Well to my dismay, Wisdom also seemed to be the most elusive in finding a unified definition. My Parish Priest’s answer was not quite what I had in mind. The Catechism, was per usual, seemingly in another language. Wiki Pedia and any other internet discription was so so secular. My Spiritual Mentor was most interested, but still in the same frame of mind as I. Then, quite simply one Sunday after Mass, I asked a friend whose opinion and knowledge I trust.
With a thought provoking look, he succinctly put my questions to rest. Knowledge is knowing the Word. Wisdom, is putting it to action. Ahhhhha I exclaimed: the Letter of the Law vs the Spirit of the Law.

Case closed,

Peace be with you.

12/7/18

Went to a children’s Mass today. It was refreshing and reassuring that there are generations behind us.

Preach the Gospel thru your actions; and if neccessay use words.

Mondays

I don’t like Mondays. There is no morning mass in our parish. I have to start my day without our Lord in my belly. 😞

Charisms part 1

CharismsPart 1
Each of us, thru the power of the Holy Spirit are graced with a charism. Some, maybe just for one time; some forever. But how do we know which one, or ones. Or, perhaps what we think is a charism, is merely something we are particularly good at.

I have found a way to navigate these graces. Or should I say, I am blessed with a way to navigate. Recently, I asked my Spiritual Mentor to help me rediscover my purpose in our church, our parish. I had retired recently and found myself without direction or purpose. But, I did know, I wanted to spend more time serving the glory of our Lord. She introduced me to a book “The Catholic Church Spiritual Gifts Inventory.”

A pamplet written by Sherry Weddell. Its “helping Catholics succeed at a primary discipline of the Christian life: discerning, developing, and using their spiritual gifts (charisms).” Imagine, you have discovered at least one of our Lords purpose for you!

Perhaps Wisdom, or maybe Knowledge, maybe the Spirit has given you both! To some the Spirit has blessed with the charism of Faith, another the gift of healing. Imagine, if the Spirit has blessed you with the blessing of Miracles. Maybe, one time, one person , at one specific time, someone had the gift of Prophecy. Imaugine the trust the Spirit has given you to Discern between Spirits or with another you have spoken in Tongues; and somone then heard and Interpreted. The list is not all inclusive, for the Spirit of God uses us as He wills and our wills should be His.

Matter for Expiation—Mortal Sins Imperfectly Atoned For PRAYER BEFORE MEDITATION. My God, I firmly believe that Thou art here present. I acknowledge that on account of my many sins I am utterly unworthy to appear before Thy sacred countenance.
